Once again, the Oak Harbor Yacht Club Buccaneers, a volunteer group of the yacht club, will be spreading Christmas cheer. Thanks to the Buccaneer sponsored Angel Tree at the Oak Harbor Yacht Club, families who find themselves facing a bleak Christmas will have gifts under their trees.

Details of the family members in need are obtained through Opportunity Council. All gift recipients and donors remain anonymous.

“This is a great opportunity for the members of the Oak Harbor Yacht Club to give back to the community,” said Jan Markley, this year’s Angel Tree coordinator.

The Buccaneers have taken on numerous community oriented events, including participation in the Oak Harbor’s annual July 4 parade with the crowd favorite pirate ship; the delivery of 36 Thanksgiving baskets to families in Oak Harbor this past Thanksgiving; and the annual Kids’ Fishing Derby held each July.

“The Buccaneers would not be able to take on our community events without the generosity and support of our members,” Markley said. For information, contact Lori Rhodenbaugh at 360-240-9105.
