A 14-year-old female was injured late Wednesday afternoon as the result of an accident that took place on Fort Nugent Road.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., the girl was struck by a 1994 Chevrolet pickup driven by 18-year-old Aries McCauley who was westbound on Fort Nugent Road. The accident took place between the intersection with Swantown Road and Fort Nugent Park.

There was a report the girl had ran out in front of traffic; Oak Harbor Police Chief Rick Wallace said that information had to be confirmed by officers interviewing witnesses.

Oak Harbor Police Chief Rick Wallace said the incident was still being investigated by law enforcement. He didn’t have a name available of the girl involved in the accident.

It appeared the girl had a possible broken arm and she was transported to the hospital for treatment.
