Businesses in downtown Oak Harbor  have more of a holiday flair to their storefronts.

More than two dozen businesses painted holiday themes on the main entrances to their stores as part of the Pioneer Way “Deck the Door” contest, sponsored by the Whidbey News-Times.

Those holiday themed doors will remain through Christmas and shoppers can vote on their favorite.

“It’s really just a way to shop local and come down and enjoy the holiday,” said Lee Ann Mozes, advertising sales manager for the Whidbey News Group.

The Whidbey News-Times recently re-established an office in downtown Oak Harbor by opening in a spot on Fidalgo Avenue one black north of Pioneer Way.

Businesses had their doors decorated by Thanksgiving.

The employees at the Oak Harbor location of Bayleaf were busy before the holiday painting a “cornucopia” of holiday foods and holiday themes on the main entry.
