Top state experts visit Whidbey Island

Island County Economic Development Council’s Annual Membership Luncheon, titled “Economic state of Washington — where do we go from here?,” will be held Wednesday, April 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Useless Bay Golf and Country Club on South Whidbey. Cost is $5.
Guest panelists will include State Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, Rep. Barbara Bailey, Rep. Norma Smith, state Commerce Director Daniel Malarkey, along with Arun Raha, executive director of the state’s Economic and Revenue Forecast Council.
“During the current recession Washington has suffered economically,” said Sharon Hart, EDC executive director. “Join us as our expert panel will focus on the past legislative actions, new opportunities and challenges for our area in shaping our economic future.”
