The National Associations of Home Builders recognized a Coupeville-based builder for his efforts constructing an energy-effecient home.

Ted Clifton of Clifton of Clifton View Homes was awarded Concept Home of the Year. The 1,977-square-foot home’s tight insulation and other energy-effecient features allowed the homeowners to enjoy a total utility bill of just over $400 for the first full year of operation. The owners also received an electricity credit after installation of photovoltaic panels were installed on the rooftop in early June, according to a news release.

Clifton has been designing and building energy efficient homes in the Coupeville area for more than 20 years.
