Hospital seeks student interns

Whidbey General Hospital’s Student Intern Program is available to students who are or will be 18 years old or older as of June 22, 2009.

Students of good academic standing who are interested in healthcare careers can discover first-hand the spectrum of work and work possibilities in these critically needed fields. Selected students will be hired to work at Whidbey General in the department which best matches their career interests.

From June 22 until Aug. 15 they will have the opportunity to work with the professionals they hope to become as well as contribute to the work of those departments.

The positions are minimum wage, part-time, and temporary.

“They are most useful to students with limited or no clinical experience,” said Trish Rose, hospital spokeswoman. “They give an insider’s look into work that might be just what you’d imagine or that might be nowhere near what you hoped for. Either discovery should be valuable.”

In the past, students have worked in the Medical Ambulatory Care / Oncology Clinic, Rehabilitation Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory Services, Critical Care Unit, Care Management/Social Services, Whidbey Family Birthplace, Nutrition Services and the Medical/Surgical Unit.
