Whidbey Island Sleep Center in Oak Harbor recently received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Whidbey Island Sleep Center is a department of Whidbey General Hospital in Coupeville.

“The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates the Whidbey Island Sleep Center on fulfilling the high standards required for receiving accreditation as a sleep disorders center,” said Dr. Mary Susan Esther, AASM president, in a press release. “The center is a significant resource to the local medical community and will provide academic and scientific value in addition to the highest quality care for patients suffering from sleep disorders.”

The accreditation process involves detailed inspection of a center’s facility and staff, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts, and physician training.

The academy currently accredits more than 1,500 sleep medicine centers and laboratories across the country.

The Whidbey Island Sleep Center is directed by Dr. Jakdej Nikomborirak and is located at 1300 Goldie Rd. in Oak Harbor. For more information call 240-4080.
