In celebration of the air show and 60th Anniversary of NAS Whidbey, the Greater Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce is holding a window painting contest.

Paint your windows with American flags, air planes, and anything red white and blue.

Window painting can be done with regular tempura or acrylic craft paint. It is water-soluable, and can also be scraped off with a razor-blade, according to Priscilla Heistad, chamber director.

All businesses are invited to participate and win some great prizes by painting their windows in one of the following themes: Salute to Veterans; Vintage/Historic Theme; Patriotic Theme.

Judging will be based on creativity, use of theme and originality, and will take place Tuesday, Aug. 13. The group of judges will be made up of representatives of the Navy, the City of Oak Harbor, and the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

Prizes include:

First Place — four tickets to the performers’ chalet and four tickets to Sunday brunch at CPO Club.

Second Place — two tickets to performers’ chalet and two tickets to lunch at CPO Club.

Third Place — 2 air show t-shirts.

4 Honorable Mentions — pies from Mitzel’s.

All participants and winners will be published in the Whidbey News-Times following the contest.

Register by sending an email with your name, telephone number and location to priscilla@oakharborchamber.org.
