"News of Dairy Valley's demise has been greatly exaggerated.Owner Barbara Stewart said she's heard from a number of people about a rumor going around town that Oak Harbor's 35-year-old Kettle Street dairy store is closing soon. Not true, says Stewart. She is still serving Swiss chocolate cherry ice cream and vanilla shakes, as well as a full line of dairy products in her unique milk drive-through.Stewart says she has no idea how the rumors got started. She did put the business up for sale last summer after Paul, her husband and business partner, died. But the store hasn't sold.Stewart is hoping that someone will buy the store and keep it running just as it has for all those years. Many customers feel the store is an Oak Harbor institutions of sorts - the kind of place where generations of ice cream lovers return year after year.Since Paul passed away, a variety of family and community members have pitched in to help Stewart keep the unique neighborhood business up and running.Oh, I am still here, she said. Believe me. "
