Financial Workshop for Individual investors Edward Jones Investments is offering a free 5-week course for individual investors interested in learning more about setting investment goals and objectives. The course will also cover the types of investment choices often used by individuals to meet their financial investment goals.
The class will meet at the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce (32630 SR20) on consecutive Tuesdays from 7-8pm beginning on Oct. 23 and running through Nov. 20. Call 679-2527 to reserve a seat (first come, first serve basis).
Orchid Seminar The Greenhouse Florist & Nursery in Oak Harbor will host a free Orchid Seminar on Saturday, Oct 27th from noon until 2pm. The seminar will feature lots of information for aspiring greenthumbs as well as many plants on display and for sale.

Tech Consulting Firm Opens in Oak Harbor Vega Discoveries Consulting, a new business that specializes in helping companies integrate new technology into the workplace, has opened its doors at 3478 N. Altair Pl. in Oak Harbor.
Vega Discoveries is owned and operated by Richard Hancock, a Whidbey Island resident of two-and-a-half years. Hancock has nearly a decades worth of experience in the software development industry and is a Microsoft Certified Product Specialist. He has worked for both private industry clients and government agencies.

Skagit Valley College Honors Two Local Businesses Skagit Valley College Foundation recently honored Whidbey Island Bank and Island Thrift for their exceptional leadership in scholarship assistance.
Whidbey Island Bank received the SVC Foundations Distinguished Service Award for leadership in corporate philanthropy to SVCs Whidbey Island Campus. Island Thrift also received a Distinguished Service Award for its 12 years of assistance to Whidbey Island students attending Skagit Valley College.
