Bomb threats return to Oak Harbor High School

Part of Oak Harbor High School was evacuated Monday morning as a result of a bomb threat discovered on campus.
The Monday morning incident marks the fifth such incident to take place since the beginning of the school year.
Joe Hunt, school district communications director, said that because the note specifically mentioned a particular part of the school, that part was cleared at approximately 9:45 a.m.
He said the latest threat was similar to the ones that plagued Oak Harbor High School two years ago.
When the school is evacuated, students are funneled toward Wildcat Memorial Stadium. Considering the wet, windy weather, that can be a miserable experience for the students.
The student body is annoyed with the whole thing, Hunt said. Two years ago, the high school was plagued with frequent evacuations due to the bomb threats that were found in the schools restrooms.
The first bomb threat during the current school year took place just after classes started in the fall. Then three other bomb threats were made just before school was dismissed for the holiday break.
Hunt said the bomb threats havent resulted in the school day being shortened or students being sent home.
The police have interviewed several students but nobody has been arrested. Hunt urges anyone with information about the threats to come forward.
